A Tangled Web…
December 2, 2011 § 150 Comments
This is a story that I actually had to draw a flowchart to keep track of… so bear with me here.
There are several key players, not the least of which are a well-known criminal and the OSPCA. There’s also a rescue involved… go figure.
AND there are some horses that desperately need saving!
Player Number One
Richard “Butch” Clare
If you don’t know who he is, you’re obviously not from Ontario. This is a well-known man who not only owns a cattle slaughter house / feed lot (Aylmer Meat Packers Inc.) – but he’s made a good living at transporting horses to slaughter. Ah Butch, you’re already my favorite character. My favorite part of Butch’s story is that he has plead guilty to, and been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for, improper acts. What improper acts? Oh, you know… slaughtering cattle not fit for human consumption and putting it out in the market for us ‘humans’ to eat. You see, the cattle he ‘slaughtered’ were already dead. They showed UP dead. The only animal that should have been eating that cow was a dog (not that I think that’s ok either). He lost his (slaughterhouse) license FIVE times in 12 years! That didn’t stop him from slaughtering cattle for human consumption though! Oh no, not Butch! « Read the rest of this entry »
Tarrant County Officers Should be Charged with Neglect
September 1, 2011 § 2 Comments
Buy a cow, get a one-eyed horse for free.
Not only is this poor horse a stallion, but he’s emaciated, and only has one eye.
What is wrong with this picture? I mean, aside from basically giving him away at an auction? What’s wrong is the fact that the sheriffs department had this horse for approximately five months, and quite obviously haven’t been able to put weight on him.
The photo is apparently from August 12th.
They posted photos that literally prove they neglected this horse. « Read the rest of this entry »
Cindy Shaffer is Finally being Investigated…
July 25, 2011 § 7 Comments
…after years of complaints and a missing wild cat.
Yes, you heard me. A missing wild cat.
Information about Cindy Shaffer, of Clark County Ohio is a little slim… but this is what I’ve found so far. « Read the rest of this entry »

It’s so laughable, I won’t even bother to write an editorial.

GuZoo Wants to Sell Animals
June 6, 2011 § 3 Comments
According to their most recent post… the GuZoo clan are not giving up without a “fight”.
We have so many concerns right now, from the future of the animals to how we are going to pay our utility bill next month. And in the meantime find energy to seek legal help for our situation.
Many comments and questions have been directed to us regarding to future of our animals. We have not been given anything in writing to say that we must relocate our animals. We have been told verbally our “Decommission Plan” will be implemented shortly. However, we are unsure as to how much control we will be given to determine the fate of our animals.
GuZoo Zoo Closes its Doors… Finally
June 2, 2011 § 1 Comment
After years of complaints, countless photos posted on the Internet, Facebook groups calling for their closure, and finally some government intervention, the GuZoo Zoo is closing down. I wrote about the Guzoo here, here, here and here. According to the Calgary Herald article, they are finally being shut down. It’s about time. According to the Herald, the GuZoo will have one week to “decommission” the Zoo and place the animals. I also get that the government will be watching how those animals are dispersed. They won’t be allowed to be killed and sent to the taxidermist.
The Gustafsons are complaining that they will not get any “compensation” for their animals. While I understand this knee-jerk reaction, can they really expect to be compensated for animals they’ve neglected? Animals they’ve bred when they’re not supposed to? They should thank their lucky stars they’re not up on charges and facing fines or jail time. « Read the rest of this entry »
Horses Starving and Injured while SPCA “Monitors”. Again.
May 14, 2011 § 16 Comments
The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is up to it again. For a month now the SPCA out of Hamilton have been monitoring six horses on a property in Millgrove. The horses are malnourished, have rain rot, some are injured, but all are nice, sweet horses that are desperate for food, water and love.
A neighbour called the SPCA to report the horses. The owner of the horses does not live there. I have to wonder who DOES live there. If you watch the video, you’ll see a house… Are those people sitting in their living room, watching six horses slowly starve to death while collecting the rent on the barn and land? « Read the rest of this entry »
GuZoo Photos (Timeline)
April 4, 2011 § 3 Comments
If you’d like to see photos taken over the last few years or so, please visit the following links. They show that NO improvements have been made over the last few years, and if anything conditions have worsened.
All the links below are from one person, except the last link is the one getting passed around.
Be sure to read the descriptions, as well as many of the comments on the more recent photos as Nic Burgess actually comments on some of the photos (noting that some of the animals are dead now, or unable to be found – such as the Bassett Hounds – even though his photos are only one week after the last link before his).
What more proof do the “supporters” of GuZoo Zoo need?
